Part 1
A lot can happen over the years.
10 years ago.. I was most likely getting home from a night out on the town.
8 years ago.. About the same ;-)
7 years ago.. My life was about to change. The best change that could have ever happened to me.
November 3, 2004 was the day I went into labor with my little monster. Seems like ages ago… but I remember every little detail. I thought I was going to be pregnant forever!
A little backstory… I went into preterm labor on September 28th. I didn’t know it.. And at first didn’t even feel the contractions. I had a Non Stress Test that day and as soon as they hooked me up to the monitor, there they were.. Every 2-3 minutes. The nurse was shocked.. Hell, I was shocked. I was given a shot to try to stop the labor, but it didn’t work. Persistent little contractions.. And they were working too! I was dilated to 2cm. So I was given a 2nd shot and it worked. Thankfully! At 34 weeks, my little guy wasn’t done cooking. So I was sent home on bed rest. (Which I started AFTER a quick Target trip to get comfy pjs lol) Sooo.. My due date of Halloween came and went with no bundle of joy. I was avoiding answering the phone because I got SO damn tired of people calling and asking “Did ya have that baby yet?” .
I had a Dr appt on November 3rd and expected to be told no change and that this baby was perfectly content in the womb. Mom and I made plans for lunch AFTER my appointment (Cracker Barrel) but we never got that lunch. Dr. R checked me (still 2 cm) and said, “How would you like to have a baby today?” I was dumbfounded. I sat out in the waiting room while the nurse prepared my paper work with that “deer in headlights look”. I remember Mom telling me to stop because I was scaring other patients. LoL As much as I was looking forward to my still unnamed little guy, I was NOT looking forward to the pitocin. I had heard horror stories about that drug. Once in my LD room, I get changed into the gown and go to the bathroom, only to find out I had lost my mucous plug! It was so gross but I was so happy! I got hooked up on the monitors and I was having contractions! Nothing too regular.. But I could feel them. They told me to relax for a few hours and at around 6pm they would insert a Cervadil to help things along and then another one at midnight and pitocin wouldn’t start until the next morning. Well my body FINALLY knew what to do and it by the time I got the 2nd cervadil I was having regular contractions and dilating/effacing! I remember watching the monitor and seeing the contractions start to graph before I could actually feel them. Strangest thing ever! By midnight I was 4 cm and became best friends with my anesthesiologist. There was no way I was doing this without an epidural. . .

Halloween
Dalton has been all about Pirates lately. Not just any pirate, but Captain Jack Sparrow! So we headed to Party City a few weeks ago to pick up a Captain Jack costume. What happens when we get there? My little monster had too many choices to choose from. He ended up choosing Bobba Fett ( or to me: Just some Star Wars guy).

Katie and I took Dalton and Zane to boo at the zoo. I knew I wouldn't be able to go trick or treating due to upcoming back surgery, so this way he and I got to trick or treating.
Dalton and his cousin, Zane.
My friend and his wife took Dalton trick or treating with them. Dalton is friends with their son.
He had a blast and was exhausted when he got home!

I'm a slacker.
I'm a slacker. I haven't posted since May. In May I still had a kindergartener. Now I have a first grader. FIRST GRADE!? How did he get so old?
This is the week before school started. We attended the Meet and Greet. Once he met Ms. Bell, he was ready to start school that day! I do believe he has a crush on her!
Dalton on the first day of FIRST grade! He was super happy!
He is doing awesome in first grade. The first grading period he made the honor roll and got the Character Counts award! Can you tell I'm a proud mom? He has improved so much, especially in reading and writing. Here is a note he wrote for me:
Dalton played AYSO fall soccer. This was his first season. His team, the Cobras, finished out the season undefeated. They kicked butt!
Here are the boys and their trophies with Coach Laura at the end of season party.

What have we been doing?
I can't believe it is already May! Dalton has his last day of Kindergarten on May 25th (sniffle). I can't believe my little baby is going to be a in first grade.. So much has happened since my lazy bum has posted..
- Dalton started Kindergarten.. (I just realized how long its been since I posted)
- I chaperoned my first field trip.. to the Zoo. Fun was had by all. I couldn't walk for two days afterwards lol Getting old is NOT fun!
- Field day! Little guy didn't get a ribbon...but was so happy to get out there and try! I am a proud mommy!
- Easter and Easter Egg Hunts in the backyard with our neighbors
- Playdates with his friend Emma..with lots of Just Dance 2 involved
- He lost his first tooth. Tooth fairy left him $5. According to him the most important part of this is that the $5 was all in one dollar bills. ;-)
- We went to the Giant Treehouse in Crossville.. So much fun.. until an excited little boy who is jumping down the stairs starts to fall. I tense to grab him.. and I do..but I tore part of my quadricep muscle. That is some hardcore pain!
Busy time in the Brady house! I am going to do better about posting. Next post will be pictures, but it is time to go get Dalton from school.. So I have to go!

The DVR Debacle
I love my DVR.
I love that I can pause live tv, rewind if I missed something, fast forward through commercials, and record the end of a show if I just can't stay awake any longer. I love it! I have several shows set up as series recordings....
- Grey's Anatomy
- Private Practice
- NCIS
- The Secret Life of the American Teenager (it is my guilty pleasure show) lol
- Glee
- True Blood
I work nights..so a DVR is a must.. I am just never home when my shows come on... and the DVR should make my life so much easier...right??
WRONG!
I currently have a month of Grey's and PPs to watch..2 weeks of NCIS,and 3 episodes of Secret Life. Thankfully, I am caught up with Glee (loved the Madonna episode!!) and the True Blood season hasn't started yet. lol I am overwhelmed! I am so behind..that I don't know which show to catch up on first.. I know.. silly problem..but I have this issue.. I get weird when my DVR is about 40% full.. I can't delete any of my above listed shows yet.. I have other shows that I recorded on a whim ( of course haven't watched yet) and then the children's programming.. Dalton learned how to record what he is watching..So I will look and see 19 minutes of Yo Gabba Gabba, and 5 minutes of Dora..etc..etc.. on top of his shows that I keep on there (Billy the Exterminator, Backyardigans. Ni Hao Kai Lan, Upside down show, and Monster Jam).. So currently the DVR in the living room is at 63%! Ack! The DVR in my bedroom is at 50%...double ack! Yes I have two dvrs.. I spoil myself..but anyway.. random silly rant over...

6 days..
of the funk..
I have been sick for 6 days...6 days of nausea, 6 days of vomiting, and 6 days of well other very unpleasant things. I finally broke down and went to the doctor today..
I've lost 7 lbs in the 6 days I've been sick. Yay! Oh wait.. thats been 6 days without a real meal, or even a meal consisting of more than a few bites of food. So boo!
Should have some answers this week hopefully.
